norman_head
Still trying to get an image to show up here. Anyone know where I can see a set of posting guidelines? That involved uploading to this site and copying the address. Does direct linking work from sites like flickr?
Dustin McAmera
I show my pictures by linking to them at Flickr. Flickr likes you to post your picture such that people can click on it and go to the picture's page at Flickr. Here's how you can do that. At Flickr, on the photo's page, click the curly 'share' arrow, below and right of the picture. This opens a window where you can choose what size you want to show the picture. When you've chosen, copy the code in the upper box. Now come to photo.net. Paste the code in the edit-box at the bottom of the thread you're posting to. Insert a line above that, and type [img][/img] In the code you copied from Flickr, select the URL of the image itself; that's the URL following 'img src=' in the code you brought from Flickr. The selection should start with https: and end with .jpg. Don't include the quotation marks. Drag this URL to between the img tags. Now select the other URL, following href= (as above: everything between the quotation marks, but not the marks themselves), and copy it. Select the whole top line [img=https:.......jpg] and then click the 'chain' icon above the edit-box. This opens a little window. Paste the URL into there, and click 'insert link'. The little window will close. In the edit-box, you will see the top line is now grey. Now, you can delete all the rest of the code you brought from Flickr. Add any text you want to appear with your picture, and post it.
norman_head
Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements. Please change your content or try again later. If you still have problems, please contact an administrator. Or I could just find an easier site to use. Dustin McAmera
Sorry that didn't work. What I put above has worked every time for me. You're not alone though: see the last post in this thread: How's the Server Error issue coming? It may also be worth reading Dieter Schaefer's post in this one: Flickr Now Only Offers HTML Embed .. although since it's from July 2015, it's quite likely to be not true any more, if it was true then. Anyhow, you could check if there's any of the forbidden elements in what you're trying to submit. You could also try logging out clearing your browser's cache checking that you're not blocking photo.net's cookies..but delete any that are there now (just the ones from photo.net), in case they're the problem. checking that you're not blocking script from photo.net (if you have NoScript, mark photo.net as trusted) ..and logging back in and trying again. That's all I can think of.
mwmcbroom
I find that it is very easy to post images from Flickr into forums. Choose the image at Flickr. Then click on the bent arrow at the bottom right of the page. This will produce a popup. On the top row of the popup are some options. Select "BB Code." A highlighted string will then appear. Hit Ctrl-C to copy the code, then come over here and paste the code into an editor window. Add text as you feel like. It's best to add the text first (which I didn't do in this case -- I'm just inserting it above the photo), and then do the Ctrl-V to paste the info in the editor page here. JDMvW
It is nice to actually post an image here, rather than linking to another site. If you go back to older, archived threads here, the images from other sites are often lost and 'fractured' Some people may like the impermanence, I suppose.
