Rollei 6008 Integral - cleaning the exposure dial

Recently I had some trouble with the manual exposure setting

on Rollei 6008 Integral. <br/><br/>

The problem was that on the manual exposure setting, the

camera would not show the speed that was on the dial but always 30" and

regardless of the lighting conditions and the aperture setting on the lens. In

the automatic exposure mode however all worked well and as expected.<br/><br/>

After some research, especially on this forum, and a bit of luck, I manged to

locate the source of the trouble - the exposure speed / shutter / AE lock dial.

I guess, since this is a used camera, that if it has not been used much, the

dust creates a lot of trouble.<br/><br/>

Hi Vanja,

Thank you very much for posting this. I have to get into that section of the camera to fix some other things (the norm/self timer switch is very loose, plus I need to fix the AE lock switch), and your pictures to take the camera apart are very useful.

If you ever find a service manual or schematics for this camera, I would greatly appreciate knowing.

Great if this helps! And be careful with the AE lock switch itself. I had to dismantle it too and broke a wire in the process. <br/>In the attached picture, you can see that the mechanism for the removal of the handle has a few spring/ball combinations. I almost lost some! So remove them with care.<br/><br/>

After that there comes the dial itself which is OK but once you remove it, there are a few small sticks that can easily fall out. They keep the dial in place when using the AE lock.<br/>

And if it is no problem, I'd like to compare notes on wire combination:<br/>

- there are two switches.<br/>

- a blue and a yellow wire for each one<br/>

- the switches are connected with a short naked wire<br/>

- black wire is connected to that short wire<br/>

Everything works fine, but maybe I got something wrong so if you don't mind posting your configuration that would be great.<br/><br/>

Sadly, no schematics or service manual - all trial and error:-)<br/>

Hi Vanja,

Though you cautioned about breaking the on/off rotating switch on disassembly, I didn't understand that is what you meant in the text in your pictures. I thought you were referring to bending the cover up to get it over the switch! So, when I turned the switch to move it to the front position, I snapped a tang off of it. It still works fine, but of course, now it can be turned forward with the side cover on. I guess I'll have to replace it if I can get the part, but now I understand what you meant!

It took some trickery to do the AE lock switch/button without removing the front and side covers, but I did it, and everything still works. I don't think I could describe it. I had to play a bit of a trick to get the spring back into the correct position when reinstalling. Plus, lining up the posts was quite a bit of trial and error.
