chuck909 Posted April 7, 2018 Share Posted April 7, 2018 In any case, I was at the range one day, picked up what I THOUGHT was the 32-20, and proceeded to load and shoot it. I thought something was up when all it did was dimple the cover of the hard drive I was shooting at. I then turned around to dump the brass out of it, and the cases looked like the mouth of a trumpet. I looked at the gun in my hand, looked at the OTHER nickel revolver in my range bag, and finally put two and two together. Fortunately, that was about the safest cartridge mis-match I could have made. Did the same, but with .44 specials in a .45 Colt. No harm done. I wish I could fix my above typo. The FM2n just got a roll run through it last week. There is an old saying though. "Beware of the man with one gun" He knows how to use it. I expect the same applies to cameras. I'm sorting out the differences between the FM2 and the F3 now. At least there's no risk blowing the lens off loading and shooting the wrong film, ;) I just enjoy using all of the old mechanical stuff so much and the craftsmanship, design, and quality that goes into a good shooting piece, be it gun or camera, has a strong appeal. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

michael_owens4 Posted May 1, 2018 Share Posted May 1, 2018 All things considered, I must agree with a few others here about the Nikkormat EL/EL2 being my possible favorite shooter. But the F2 is definitely my next favorite! I own close to 50 or more each of the Nikon F and every itteration of the F2 possible. Including all of the various viewfinders for them - "normal", waist-level, photmic metered prisms, etc. I have had the master - Sover Wong - service 5 or 6 of my F2 cameras and could NOT be more pleased with his work! I began collecting working 35mm cameras in 2004 and, while an owner and fan of some of the finest Minoltas, Pentaxes, Canons and other brands, Nikon has taken the top spot in my collection. It's going to be literallly painful to start selling most of them on eBay or in facebook groups. I have collected several hundred cameras (all now working) over the past 14 years and feel that it is time to start selling so that others can experience the magic of analog photography before it all goes obsolete. It seems to take about 3/10ths of a second for one of those little critters to get an unbreakable grip on your heart, at that age. I've known people who have rehabbed dozens of coons, and they remember each one as an individual.
