burchanda
Recently I purchased Nikon 105 f2.8 Macro lens. I did take various photos from flowers to portraits and the results were nice. I have many Nikon lenses but this one is special. Few days a go I have seen little ant running on the bench top in the kitchen. I took D7000 with 105 lens VR was on auto focus 9 points and hand held and I could see the hairs on the ant legs in the photo. This lens is magical. Jim Reynolds
I don't have this lens but I do use a tamron 90/2.8 and like you am frequently amazed at the detail shown in images. Macro is a great way to see the world around you in a different light. They are also good fun to take out into the garden if you only have an hour or so free and you would like to take some photos

JDMvW
My personal favorite Nikkor is, of course, the PC-Nikkor 35mm f/2.8, but the NON-"micro" Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 is up there on the heights. My daughter has the non-AI Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Micro and likes it a lot. uses it on her Canon EOS cameras with an adapter, etc. Nikon lenses are generally really fine which is one reason I appreciate that simple adapters let them be used on other cameras, as well as Nikon. mjferron
Most of these 105 macro are great. On the advice of the angry photographer I opted for a used Tokina 100 2.8 ATX Pro. Wonderful build quality and fine optics as well. D300 and Tokina 100 at ISO 1600 and F 5.6
DavidTriplett
This lens is magical. I agree wholeheartedly! It took me years, but I finally scrimped and saved enough to buy this lens. Now I wonder why I didn't do it sooner. Here's a vignette of a $20 bill at 1:1 (posted previously):
mark_stephan2
Love Nikon micro lenses. Currently using the 85 f/3.5 VR with my D7100. I also own but don't use very often the 60 and 105 AFD lenses. Prefer the D lenses when working from a tripod and a D800.
steve_mareno1
Thanks for the correction JDM. It is of course a micro, not macro......and all lenses but Nikons mount and focus backwards :]
Moving On
You digital reprobates need to leave our film lenses alone! EBay is turning into Tiffany’s when it comes to that old Classic Glass......
