ShunCheung
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member please post no more than just one image to this weekly thread per week.

ShunCheung
Great Horned Owl, Austin, Texas. Bill, very interesting image. Out of curiosity, I checked the shutter speed you used. That is in the EXIF data, 1/50 sec. I love the wing motion blur but am glad that even at 1/50 sec, the owl's eyes are still quite sharp.
Bill J Boyd
SHUN....the same pair of Great Horned Owls have nested at entrance to Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin for 9-consecutive years. This is Poppa Owl. I was shooting in Manual mode & forgot to change the shutter speed. When I chimpped it on camera I almost deleted it because the wings weren't in focus. Decided to keep it after I saw it on the computer. Eyes are in focus but I see good movement in wings. Glad I kept it. Even printed this on metal and donated to wildflower center. Thanks, bb
