I recently brought a used Sony A77 as a backup camera. And I finally shot it for the first time last weekend and noticed the images not as clear as they should be while editing. So I took the lens off and noticed a scratch in the translucent mirror. I should have check the camera out good when i brought it so I blame myself. But I have owned several Sony's from my A 57, A65, A99, and A99 II and and have never had no is such issue. How is easy is it to change this mirror out.?

A couple of used a77s turned up in a local store - looking less than carefully handled, but the price was tempting.

However, as soon as I read the words 'translucent mirror' in the spec, I vowed not to touch them.

I think replacing the mirror is a job for a Sony service centre, and as Bebu suggested, the price may make it 'BER' - Beyond Economic Repair.

If the vendor didn't disclose the damage, then you may have a right to a return and refund. Good luck!

If you own a bunch of Minolta, Sony G, Tokina AT-X Pro and Tamron SP lenses all in A mount I disagree. I don't want to switch to E mount yet. The A77 is a fantastic camera and they are reasonably cheap in very nice condition. I've always sent my camera off to the oem manufacturer and always received a camera that worked like new when I got them back. You might want to look into an estimate before spending more and more money for another camera.
