Film Camera Week for March 30

Recommended Posts

Greetings all and welcome to our new thread. As usual, post and many photos as you like from your film gear. I'll start with a mix of color and black & white.

North Gloster on winter day, Rollei B35, Fuji Superia 400

With the slowest time shutter speed only being 1/30 second, the B35 is limited to fairly bright interiors.

Tupelo Strange Brew

One more from around Christmas. Probably about the lowest light a B35 can still work with.

First roll through the recently acquired FT-3. Had trouble finding the scans as I accidentally saved them in folder with some ZX-7 images.

At only 4 oz., I think the Agat will find a permanent place in my day pack. It's a very clever design, with its weather symbol exposure settings, horizontal frame format, even a depth-of-field scale on the lens. It also takes filters (22.5mm threaded, or 24mm push-on). I'm having fun playing with Series V accessories, using a 24mm push-on to Series V adapter. A rangefinder can also mount neatly on top in the hot shoe, though of course these extras add to the bulk of the camera.

I did open up the camera to fix a broken frame counter and remove some haze from the viewfinder. It has a neat modular design, so it's relatively easy to disassemble.

As Autumn advances the sun moves away to the North and the shadows lengthen, creating the kind of light that's both a benefit and a challenge. I got out one morning last week with a Mamiya 645 1000s with the Mamiya Sekor 55-105mm f/4.5 lens and a load of Bergger Pancro 400. The film was developed in PMK Pyro.

I took out the Samoca 35 Super I posted a photograph of in the current "What camera are you using this weekend?" thread, with a load of Kentmere 100. It's a tiny camera but very solid; the viewfinder is a little woeful but the rangefinder spot is good and bright and properly aligned. Unknown to me, the shutter blades were sticking open at speeds of 1/50th or slower, so I managed to fog a fair proportion of the film. However, the shots I took at speeds high that 1/50th were fine, and they demonstrated the surprisingly good quality of the little 50mm Ezuma f/3.5 lens. While it has the edge problems inherent in triplet lenses of this era, stopped-down it performs very well, sharp and with excellent contrast. I'll post some samples below; the film was developed in PMK Pyro. Meanwhile, I'll add the camera to the waiting list of "Little Things I Must Do"...

Should anyone be interested, I put together a few notes on the Samoca 35 Super for the forum, way back in 2014.
