Hasselblad 205TCC focal plane shutter not clearing at the top of open

Have started using my 205TCC a bit and notices about a half centimeter of negative is not captured. Took off the back and realized the focal plane shutter is not opening completely, but stick close to the top of the camera obstructing a bit of the image. Is this something I can carefully lubricate, or does it need to go in for repair?

Thanks

Paul

The shutter runs horizontally, so any hanging/capping of the shutter will be on the sides.

Perhaps you have the issue described here:

Hassy 202FA shutter problem?

There are pictures of the baffle on the other forum:

Hasselblad heartbreak (second page)

Here is what that baffle looks like in the camera:

When it breaks free, it can block to top of the film gate (which is the bottom of the picture). On mine, it broke and detached completely, and fell to the bottom, blocking the "top" of the image.

The baffle should fold up with the mirror and get trapped by the secondary mirror arm. If it is not doing that, then it is likely about to break off (it just bends where it hinges) and should just be removed (just pull it off). You should not tack it to the mirror as the mirror has a compound motion.

If you remove it, you don't really have to replace it (see the other threads).

Perfect answer for me Tom, thank you very much

The "other forum" ? Which one is that?

Link is provided on that post, on the subsequent line. Probably the only other film centric medium format forum.
