Gary Naka
Question for those who own a Tamron 500mm f/8 55BB. This is the one without the tripod mount. How front heavy is the camera + lens when the camera is mounted on the tripod? I use my 500 on a tripod for stability, but would prefer if the setup isn't so front heavy that it becomes difficult to use on a tripod. I was thinking of the older 55B which has a tripod mount, but read that Tamron improved the optics for the 55BB. tnx
teddyweverka
I've been able to reach out to really long focal lengths with the reflex lenses (including a Celestron 1250mm) and a NIkon TC-1 or a Vivitar (2X, original co.) telextender. Results are amazingly good (LINK) It has somewhat dampened (I am glad to say) the urge to buy ever longer and longer mirror lenses. I topped out with the Celestron Edge 9.25 inch (2350mm focal length). This thing makes the 600mm solid cat feel like a hand held lens.
