arthur_gottschalk
Can anyone tell me what filter setup I need for my 4x5 Graflex Super D? I think I need a Series 7 adapter/ holder and filters to fit, but not sure.
rodeo_joe1
Doesn't it depend on what lens is fitted? And whether you want to use grad or solid-colour filters.
arthur_gottschalk
Yes, standard lens, solid filters.
paul ron
Vintage Filter Systems: The "Series" Filters I wonder if youu can adapt from series vii to a standard filter ring? otherwise corkin or Lee filter adapters are about the best choice. The more you say, the less people listen.
arthur_gottschalk
Lenses on both cameras are Kodak Ektars, f5.6 190mm for the 4x5 and F4.5 152mm for 3x4 camera. Both are mounted in Graflex "Automatic Diaphraming" shutters that make the Super D's so special, e.g., they remain wide open until the shutter is tripped, when they stop down to the correct f-stop for the exposure. Oddly enough, both lenses have the same external diameter of 44-45mm, meaning that I can use the same filter set-up on both cameras.
paul ron
that link I posted has dimensions of the different series sizes. from the chart you are a series vii. The more you say, the less people listen.
arthur_gottschalk
Kodak Series VII fits both lenses. 44-45mm diameter. Filterfind.net has all this stuff.
rodeo_joe1
A series VII filter or adapter has a thread diameter of just over 54 mm. So it's difficult to see how this'll fit a 44 to 45mm lens. Are you sure they don't take push-fit filters? I'd double check the size before buying. In any case an adapter to something like a standard 52mm filter thread would be the most flexible choice. john_shriver
You would need the Kodak Adpater Ring, push-on from 1-3/4 inches (44.5 mm) to Series VII. It should come with a retaining ring for Series VII filters. For instance: KODAK SERIES 7 VII ADAPTER RING 1 3/4 IN 44.5MM MADE IN USA | eBay But you probably want to wait and find one for sale in your country. Measure the outside diameter of the front of the lens to be sure this is the right size. There were also 1-11/16 inch (42.5 mm) and 1-13/16 inch (46mm) adapters. arthur_gottschalk
You can buy all this stuff at Filterfind.net. Yes, Series 7 is the one, but you will have to bend the retainers quit a bit to fit the 44.5mm diameter of these lenses.
