Don Harpold
Hello Here are a few from the Yashica Electro 35 GSN with HP5 and developed in Pyrocat HD I had given up on this camera as I did not like the first roll that came out of it and stuck it in the bottom of the safe. I pulled it out the other day and thought I would try it again so I loaded a roll from bulk and took it out for a quick spin with a short roll, and damn it I like what came out, not sure if it was the film, last roll was Ultrafine Extreme, or the developer or?? Anyway here are a few Lamp Statue Tables and planters Palm trees

chuck_foreman1
I acquired recently a very clean example of the early 1950s Contina with the 3.5 Novar lens. It is in extremely good condition. I recently was also given a lowly 6x6 Nettar with a Novar 6.3. This was in good working condition but the exterior was faded, this 35mm little brother is very nice but the lens performed a little under par IMHO. I tend to shoot landscapes and they were not soo sharp. I think this lens was intended for closer work and probably works better slightly open with closer subjects. Here'S the seller's picture of the camera.. ie the loss art of Camera Porn!! This is the familiar Kentmere 100 souped in D76. Little to no adjusting. Rheinscape View to the Domenikus Krankenhaus Unknown Office Bldg A familiar View?? (Same as last week, but different camera ; )

Moving On
My new scanner has got me digging up old photos and digitizing some of the better ones. I have been immersed in the same thing. It's a hoot seeing images long forgotten.
rick_drawbridge
Four images from a Mamiya 645 1000s. The film was Ilford HP5 Plus developed in PMK Pyro, scanned on an Epson V700 using Silverfast SE software. First, to images using the Mamiya Sekor 55-105mm f/4.5 lens: Ruby's Gate Morning in the Vineyard Two frames from the very fine 35mm Mamiya Sekor f/3.5 Perspective Behind the Supermarket
davecaz
Which Sigma lenses did you have, davecaz? For my first Maxxum (a 5000), I had a Sigma 75-300 f4.5-5.6. I was pleased with its performance, but when I moved up to an 8000i the Sigma wouldn't work with it. Instead of having it re-chipped I bought a Maxxum 100-300 iSeries instead. I'm not really sure, any more. I had two zooms to cover the "normal" range. Pretty sure one was a 70-210. The other was probably something like a 28-70. They were both slooowwww, and I never realized what I was missing until I got my KM 7D and a Minolta 28-85 "mini-beercan" lens. Same camera, same scene, the Sigmas were duller, lower in contrast, lower in resolution, and had muddy colors compared to the Minolta. It was like Dorothy waking up in OZ, and seeing colors for the first time. I had seriously lost interest in photography because the results I was getting were so bad. The RAW shots from the Minolta were better than the processed shots from the Sigmas. That Minolta lens rekindled my interest, and I've cursed Smegma ever since, for wasting so many years of my time. Maybe I had bad copies, but they were pretty much equally bad.

davecaz
I have been immersed in the same thing. It's a hoot seeing images long forgotten. Sure is :D I tried to do this once before. Got myself a Polaroid Sprintscan, complete with SCSI card and cable, and a copy of Silverfast, but the noise from the scanner when it was running was horrific, and the results didn't justify the suffering. It was literally one of the worst sounds I've ever experienced. I considered building a sound-deadening box for it, but ended up just putting it on the shelf, instead. It sat there for years. I finally recycled it a few weeks ago. I hated to do it, because it was in "like new" condition, but people can't give them away on eBay, so I didn't bother trying. I'm assuming the noise was from the stepper motor. My new-ish Epson V370 Photo scanner makes the same kind of noise, but at 1/4 the volume and a less bone-piercing pitch. I don't know why the Polaroid was so loud. It was an expensive machine in its day.

Yeah, the 35-105 is a good walking-around zoom range. There was also a 28-135 in the same series of lenses, but it's relatively rare and sought after. All of those lenses were outstanding, from what I've read. For awhile they got quite expensive on eBay, but prices seem to have plummeted recently. Maybe the super-high resolution sensors have finally exceeded their capabilities.

Tony Evans
Slowly getting around to film from the NZ & HI trip. After xrays in Victoria and Auckland (both arrival & departure) I decided to get them processed at Treehouse in HI on the way home rather than 2 more zaps in HI and Seattle. I believe the results are a fraction grainier than usual but not significantly. However, not knowing Treehouse's Developer & Protocol this could be the result of processing or zapping. Here's a few with the Nicca 3f, J-12 35mm and FOMA 400, of some white wooden edifices I have a perchance for since my Large Format days. Here's lonely St. Johns out on the coast at Waimarama Beach, Hawkes Bay. St. Johns, Waimarama. Somewhat different, in Hastings main street. St. Demetrios Orthodox Church, Hastings. A couple out on the Meeanee Road between Hastings & Napier. (Yellow Y2 Filter) St. Thomas Church, Meeanee. Red Faced here! Got to the "Old Church" on Meeanee Road and was not pleasantly received. My daughter subsequently informed me that it has not been a Church for years but, under a succession of owners is a private function hall for weddings & receptions. The Old Church, Meeanee Road. Finally, the Manse & Gardens, now probably the owners residence. Old Church Manse & Gardens. 3 Tony Evans
