Film Camera Week for February 16

Hello

Here are a few from the "new" Fujica 35 AutoM, I saw the thread by ?unknown? and had to have one, so I found one for 37.00 on the bay and put a short roll of Kentmere 100 in it and developed it in PyrocatHD

This one seems to be in good condition and everything is working. The shots show flashes of brilliance and then mediocrity?

I probably just need to work with it as some of the shots came out way under and that is probably because it was bright sun and the meter probably picked up the brightness and so I lost the shadows!

I'm not normally a fan of lomography, but this is one of only two shots that even came close to being usable from the roll I put through a Voigtlander Vito B, awhile back, and I actually like the effect. It was shot on out-dated Tri-X. I don't know why, but I had the worst time getting the Vito to advance the film properly.

At one point, I was convinced that I'd ripped through the sprocket holes while trying to force it to move. (Yeah, I know, but either the camera was usable or it was junk, anyway, at that point. Fixing it was not an option.) Turns out, I hadn't ripped the film, but I had to open the back of the camera to solve the problem, so half the film was wasted that way, and another large chunk had overlapping double images, none of which were planned. Or appealing.

So, here ya go. I'm calling it Cactus Shadow.

Hi Don. Yeah, I can see why you'd want to retire there. I love those old mining towns. I drove up to Reno/Tahoe/Carson City/Virginia City one Winter. That's about as close as I've been, but Virginia City seems to be cut from the same cloth as Nevada City. I'm going to put Nevada City on my list, but I may never get there. Those 13 hour drives don't appeal to me so much, these days. Might be feasible to fly into Reno and rent a car to drive over there.

Oh, and these are great shots.

I haven't quite figured out where everyone is from. Can you tell me where these were taken?

Hi Dave:

These were taken on a trip recently to Wichita, KS, from the perspective of the Guardian of the Plains Park.

Thanks! Wichita is much more photogenic than the part of Kansas that I saw. I'm guessing the big Indian statue is the "Guardian". I like the way you framed him with the bridge structure. My favorite of the bunch is the river shot, though. Water, wildlife, architecture, interesting composition... it's got all my favorites in one shot. I really want that door with the turtle, though :)

Thanks Dave - you're too kind! And you didn't identify where'd you taken those shots above...

As mentioned in the "What camera are you using this weekend?" thread, the aperture mechanism on my Vivitar 24mm f2 seems to have gone south. It's now a fixed f 2 aperture. In spite of this failure I decided to scan a couple from the roll of Ilford FP4+ that I was shooting. Obviously depth of field is limited and this lens is not at its best wide open.

Hello

A few from the Rolleiflex TLR expired Ektachrome 100 processed by FotoExpress in San Jose, CA and scanned by me.

These came out a little under as the meter, Gossen Pilot seemed to be off and then I noticed that needle would follow the match needle when I turned it, like it was magnetized??

If anyone has had that experience let me know, I checked it again later and it seemed ok.

These were all in Nevada City CA at a train museum and around town

Mike if I am posting too many let me know

I have been doing a lot of processing and scanning lately

True. My bad. They were taken in downtown Phoenix, AZ. Sanity was taken inside one of the big hotels, but I forget which one. Cactus Shadow was outside another commercial building.
