How to edit and / or delete posts?

I understand that there is a ten minutes period to edit a post in a forum, if not ten, it is probably fifteen minutes.

The history of the purpose is to correct typos and the like. This edit period was not introduced as a user "delete" option, per se.

As I understand there was never a user operated "delete" option for Photo.net members. The terms and conditions specify that each is responsible for the content and the consequent publication on all Photo.net forums.

The introduction of the edit/review time is comparatively recent and was a topic of much discussion.

Concerning the "Classified Forum": the Classified Forum replaced the "Buy and Sell Forum" and as do all other Photo.net Forum, the Classified Forum adheres to the principles in the Terms of Use and User Guidelines. (I.e. commentary is not user removable, once it is published)

The protocol is that when the item is sold, the Original Poster makes a comment "SOLD".

I shall take the content of that instructional post and make an instrcutional sticky at the top of the Classified Forum.

Thanks for your input William.

In the past there was definitely a delete option for classifieds - I used it frequently to help keep the message board clean and smaller, also so when doing a search for a specific item, items would not come up that the searcher would then find were marked SOLD.

Thank you for that information / correction. I understand the old Forum was "Buy and Sell". I didn't use it (most sellers were/are USA based, and shipping to AUS is a pain). I was hesitant about my knowledge of the actions of that old forum as I had only vague memories of it.

Yes I had already noted that your membership / experience predates mine.

I suspect the delete option was peculiar ONLY to that Classifieds / Buy and Sell Forum.

Thanks again.
