kris-bochenek
Hi all. IT's good to be back once in a while. On the plus side my classic camera collection is growing. I need help yall. I have just got a nice looking Reflex Korelle, but the darn shutter courtain/ tension is shut. It doesn't wind all the way and it's very sluggish when tripped. Do you know of anyone that is capable of fixing it? I tried Mark Hansen, but he said to ask someone else since he's never worked on this camera. He is one honest guy. So any suggestions? Rick_van_Nooij
From what I'm told these cameras were not made to work properly :( I've looked into getting one at some point, but everyone whoever handled one told me to forget about it. Mike Gammill
I think it was Herbert Kepler's first reflex camera. He told of it in one of his monthly columns.
chuck_foreman1
I don't know really any details about that shutter. Maybe the folks at graflex.org can point you to a repair person. The curtains are likely dried up and need replacement. If there are people doing work on these (Graflex) , they may well be able to assess a repair if not perform one. JDMvW
I think it was Herbert Kepler's first reflex camera. That's right although I can't put my finger on just where he said it. Although I think Rick has a point, I'm pretty sure that the camera WAS repairable, back in the day. Probably no longer true for these relatively uncommon clunkers. On the other hand, if you try to fix it yourself, it may be a real learning experience. What do you have to lose? . There are lots of posts on the internet and even here about replacing old focal plane shutters (e.g., Rick Oleson's site LINK), and I'd bet that at the time they were mostly pretty similar. beto_jimenez
I have a similar problem. shutter does not close all the way. I had a few professional repair guys look at in Chicago and were charging up to $400 just to fix the shutter. I will bite the bullet and try to fix it myself. Never done this before, but exited. Rick_van_Nooij
Looking into how hard it would be for me to repair one if I bought a broken one, I've read that there's of piece of wire or cable running between the controls and the shutter mechanism that's the main weak point in the design.
