Anyone using the Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter / lens adapter for Sony E mount to Canon EF mount? Has it worked well on your Sony E mount mirrorless cameras using Sigma or Canon EF mount lenses? What have your experiences been?

A month or so after the Sony a9 first came out, I tried the Sigma EF-to-E adapter with my EF 500mm f/4L IS II. It failed dismally. I ended up going with the Metabones EF-to-E T-adapter MkV.

 

Two things to consider. First, the big super-telephotos are probably the hardest for these adapters to handle and, two, August was a long time ago, in the life of adapters. Much of it has to do with firmware. For example, I tried the Metabones MkIV with my 500mm and it pretty well failed, except for brief moments of brilliance. We installed a July, 2017, update and it was much better, but not consistent enough to live with. The MkV fixed that and even then, it's not without fault. So, the Sigma is likely to have new firmware since I tried it.

 

With my shorter lenses, like my EF 14mm f/2.8L II and my 24-105mm f/4L IS, there were no issues at all, except that you don't get all the functionality that you would with a Sony G Master or G-series lens, like eye-detection and several of the "lock-on" functions.

 

I'm ended up with a Sony/Canon mix: FE 12-24mm f/4 G, FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM, FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS and EF 500mm f/4L IS II. This combo works on both my a9 and my a7RIII.

I have many EF to NEX adapters...except metabones. So far MC11 works fine up to 400mm.

Well I bought the Sigma MC-11 adapter at a bargain sale price at B&H and it worked pretty well on my Sony a6000 but I sent it back because I'm currently trying to simplify my photography by selling most of my Canon APS-C gear and just using a 6D with a few good lenses and the Sony a6000 for a light weight kit that I'll carry much of the time.
