mr_marks
I have a Arca-Swiss Z1 dp monoball head on my GT3542 tripod but I am looking for a lighter tripod for trekking. I am thinking of getting the GT1532 but I would like to transfer the Z1 head to this tripod. Does anyone know if this head will fit the GT1532? Thanks for the inputs. AJG
I don't know about this specific model, but most Gitzo tripods have the standard 3/8" screw for mounting tripod heads, so it should work.
photo_galleries
It fits and will mount and will be within the GT1532's load capacity. Aesthetically (if that matters), the ZI "looks" a little big for the Series 1 tripods.
Ed_Ingold
It will fit. Gitzo tripods have a double-ended stud, 1/4:-20 and 3/8"-16. It's held in place with a lock nut. Most heads, including Arca, have a 3/8"-16 hole in the base. As noted above, the Z1 is large relative to the Gitzo 15xx. If you are head-shopping in the future, you might consider an RRS BH-40 or BH-30. The larger one has full controls, including tension and panning.
