tomspielman
I appreciate PN for the talented photographers that post stuff here, but often better than the pictures themselves is what they are of. Whether it be architecture, clever inventions, pure art, or just people themselves. Humanity is amazing. It's easy to forget given all the awful things we can do.

tomspielman
Speak for yourselves, Gents, in my lifetime I have run across a helluva lot more good than bad in mankind. My experience as well, - even millennials which I hear so many older folks gripe about. I've met countless young people with so much to offer. Sandy Vongries
Mankind starts with ourselves. It's the ones in the mirror we should be careful for. Be sure you watch out for that abyss thing.:D
tomspielman
It's not so much about politics as it is about meaning. People yearn for it and crave it. It's whenever there's a complete lack of it (like in today's politics) when we're more anxious than necessary. Kittens can help. I think politics would improve immensely if we all understood that good people can disagree with us.
Allen Herbert
"Gents, in my lifetime I have run across a helluva lot more good than bad in mankind." Sandy. True for me. Methinks folk suck up too much BS....without using their own minds as a thinking machine. "I think politics would improve immensely if we all understood that good people can disagree with us." Tom Indeed, unfortunately many folk tend towards a bitterness if you don't agree with them. Perhaps they believe have a mind of special insights or the bloke upstairs is in direct communication with them. Probably they have sucked up some BS. They have established themselves in a world of BS. So they do not inspire to any other thoughts or reasoning. They sit happily on top of their pile of BS enjoying sweet aromas. . A hundred letters have been written to them but they did not write a answer. This, too is a reply' ;)).

Allen Herbert
Lets have a think about us....us. Humanity Are we greedy and up ourselves with little care for our fellows....methinks No. I think we all believe we should enjoy the fruits of our labors. We also believe that every individual should have the opportunity to better themselves regardless of caste or greed. And we belief that those with disabilities among us should be our brothers and sisters to be offered our hand of help. We believe that every individual has the right to work to support themselves and family. That's us when you remove the BS of politics and the curse of sectarian beliefs. Not so bad really.. Norma Desmond
Pictured: Raban and Eric working in the greenhouse at a a small residential farming community for people with disabilities. I'm fortunate to visit a couple of times a year and have a nephew who lives and thrives there. Raban, on the left, is a 19-year-old volunteer from Germany who came to the U.S. for a year of service. He has an amzing impact on the individuals he works with and the community as a whole, and at only the age of 19. He is learning valuable physical skills, working with the land and the animals as well as learning about his fellow residents for the year, providing support to people who so appreciate it and so benefit from it. Both Raban and Eric are, as Tom said, awesome. 1 We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!

tomspielman
The beauty of it is, if we want a new president in three years, we just need to vote for somebody else. Seven years he's done no matter what. Three years is a blink of an eye in the history of a country and seven isn't much more. In the meantime the sun will rise and fall as it always has. After he's done, the millennials will grow up to complain about the generations younger than they are. The world and the people riding on it are far from perfect. Many will suffer, that's the truth. But many will also thrive.
bob_bill
People are like snowflakes, everyone is different. My degrees are in Literature/creative writing and psychology so the human condition intrigues me. That background is reflected in my photo work which includes much portraiture. One of my favorite quotes is that every person has an incredible story to tell... if you are willing to find it. It is the same in the photograph of people, it has the capability to tell something about the subject.

JDMvW
What the hell with all these double posts?! I know it's worth repeating, but c'mon... The server (?) or some part of the P,net system is showing posts as "fails" but then loading them later, so the more persistent (stubborn) you are, the more multiple posts you get. o_O

Moving On
People can certainly be stubborn..... More money went into my retirement in the last year than any of the 38 years prior. And I'm a lower middle class working stiff. Bought a shovel for all of those ditches the last guy promised and never used it. So much for free speech eh. Funny how people love free speech, and new tech. as long as people they disagree with don't put the two together. Someone tweeted the other day that Apple repatriated 38 billion in taxes due to the recent tax bill.
Moving On
People have potential for good or bad. It's more or less a matter of managing those competing qualities. But I have no doubt seen more good than bad in my fellow man.
