Batteries for Models B and LX?

Where can I get new batteries? My old ones have finally given up the ghost.

Don't know about yours, but my C's don't need a battery. The light meter has a selenium cell. Let us know if you find the PX-27 and how it works.

Unless you are speaking of some accessory, the Minox B has no battery. The meter is a selenium cell, self powered type. Remarkably, the one I bought circa 1963 still meters!

Does this mean that the PX27 sold on Amazon should not be used?

(Also, I miss-typed it was a Minox C and aj LX).

Main difference between a regular PX27 photo battery (I keep using this indication for the Minox battery, although it has changed in the last 10 yrs or so, various manufacturers have it in stock under different names and codes, such as Varta V27PX) and adapters is the output: whereas the factory batteries give 5.6V, the adapter gives 6V. Noticeable in real life? Some swear by it, some do not. I have had my doubts in the past, and still have them.

 

Old PX27 were laced with mercury, which entered the big no-no land long time ago. Silver oxide are the norm nowadays, basically 4x LR batteries stacked in a plastic sleeve. They give you a 6V output. On the other hand, there are adapters where a small basic resistance circuitry is built in, and thus giving a 5.6V, from a similar 4 cell stack. I use a few of these myself.

 

All I have seen in the last years were batteries coming from Varta, Duracell, Kodak. And obviously, the ubiquitous S27PX, the silver-oxide ones. Try German version of Evilbay, the Varta and the likes do pop up every now and then. Of course, there is always the danger of buying a dud, old and half empty, so caveat.
