Troll
I've never seen a Hector 50mm in person. Is the barrel so much longer than the 50mm Elmar, that I might mistake it for a collapsible LTM 90mm Elmar (a lens which doesn't exist)? I got a very brief glance at it in the AMC series on Hitler, mounted on a Leica II, with a 90mm mask on the viewfinder, so I ran like a bunny rabbit to my Von Habroeck and discovered there was no such lens. Thanksm, Wilhelm
james_elwing
Think the barrel is just a bit fatter than that on the Elmar 50, otherwise similar.
Greg M
The only collapsible 90mm f4 Elmar I know of, is the M mount version.
michaelfarley
The 50mm Hektor f2.5 is a little larger in diameter than the Elmar 50mm f3.5 of the same era to allow use of larger diameter glass elements Both are approximately the same length when extended for use. Rick_van_Nooij
The formula is 6 elements arranged in three groups of cemented pairs. The larger diameter front group is the easiest way to tell it apart from a 50mm f/3.5 Elmar....beyond reading the name and info on the beauty ring. Gus Lazzari
Here are some results using a Leitz Hektor 5cm on a Sony NEX-7 @ f/5.6 Pleasant near or far, with very desirable 'Old School' low contrast...
