Any ideas how Nikon R1 set could be sync with a film body?

I am considering buying this set for quite a long time... in addition to my SB700 - it could make a great mini studio set

 

but I am also wondering if I could get them work with my old little film body F55?

 

As far as I read the SU commander would not sync, the SB700 also doesn't work with film bodies, I was thinking for SB600, but I saw it works only as a separate light, only SB800 could be a commander?

 

what do you think? any ideas?

Those flashes use iTTL. The only Nikon film body that is compatible is the last one, namely the F6.

I have also concidered R1 commander kit to match digital bodies, never yet happened. Not even have macro lens yet. If I wanted something to match film body I would look for SB-29s or one without s. Just recently there was these kind of flashes on local used camera store with reasonable price, but I had no need, so the flash must have gone to better hands.
