chuck_magers2
Hello all! Been 20 years since I was on here last. Looking at reentering the vintage medium format realm. I went looking today for a 124g and also to see if Maxwell was still in business. I wanted to get a brightscreen for my Yashicamat once I nail down a good camera. His site shows defunct. Does anyone know if he is still in business? Any help is appreciated! Thank you Chuck Magers
arthur_gottschalk
Good question. I've got Maxwell screens on my three Rolleis. They work great.
rodeo_joe1
"Vintage" implies something that's old and of high quality, or special in some way. After a brief encounter with a 124G, I definitely wouldn't call it vintage. The lens is nothing special, the meter's about as useful as a chocolate teapot, and the ability to take 220 film is now a redundant feature. If I was shopping for a Yashi, I'd be looking at plain old 'mats. They really are 'vintage'.
