ian_gordon_bilson
my new to me Kiev shows no evidence of either in the film back channels. Were these fitted originally,or does the labyrinth design do the job? Obvious light leaks top and bottom of film on my first test roll.. Any input appreciated.. Wouter Willemse
My Kiev-4a (produced 1974) doesn't have any foam/felt seals, and it doesn't suffer from light leaks. The back slides in at the sides into a slit, and at the top there is a few mm overlap, so once the back is pushed into place, basically it gets sealed by its positioning (sorry, I explain this most crappy). My guess is if there is a light leak, there must some part deformed somehow.
david_cuttler
I recently purchased a Keiv 4A, ran the first roll of Tri-X, and no light leaks. Also no seals. Nice way to get back into film.
