stephen_komp
Hi Everyone - So I bought a Pentax 6x7 MLU and have shot a few rolls of film through it with no issues. However, all those exposures have been at 1/60th or slower. I shot half a roll today at 1/500th and 1/1,000th and got absolutely nothing - blank frames. The other half of the roll was shot at 1/60th and those exposures look fine. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance - Steve
Vincent Peri
It's been several decades since I shot with a Pentax 6x7, so I'm not sure how this will work. Can you lock the mirror up, then remove the lens so you can see the shutter curtain. Fire shots at all the shutter speeds while looking into the camera at the shutter. See if the shutter curtains open for each speed. That way, you'll at least know if the shutter curtains are opening at speeds above 1/60 sec. and get an idea what's working and what's not. Once you do that, post your results here and perhaps someone can suggest a cure for the shutter if there's a problem.

stephen_komp
So I tried that with the mirror locked up but, it moves so fast that I can't tell if the shutter is actually moving.
Vincent Peri
Try with the camera back removed (or at least opened). Hold the camera so that you have a bright light source behind the shutter. That way, you'll at least be able see some light when the shutter curtains are opening (or not).
stephen_komp
Not sure if it will fire without film in it but, I'll try it.
stephen_komp
I figured out a way to open the back with the film in the camera and the shutter does not move at 1/500th of a second. I am seriously depressed.

ian_gordon_bilson
To cock and fire the beast you need to depress the counter tab ( top left in the door channel I think). You can then wind and fire at will.
