Info on zone V! archival print washer?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm considering getting one of these, and wondering if any one has had experience with them.

The one I am considering is said to be for 11 x 14s

It seems to involve a holder/tray that has slots for the individual prints, and is immersed and removed from a larger tank, which is responsiblefor the water flow.

The dimensions that are available for the unit are 12" x 17" x 6" deep.

I'm assuming that these figures are for the removable tray, and that the prints will fit completely within the tray slots, but I cannot find that out for sure.

If so, what are the larger dimensions? If you have experience with this model, what was your impression.

I am not quite sure what you are looking for. I think you are referring to the "Zone VI Washing Machine" not to the "Zone VI Archival Print Washer". Zone VI made several different types of washers. Here is a copy from their catalog. Hope it helps you. I have a Zone VI Archival Print Washer and it works very well.img005.thumb.jpg.9a3d3002d8bbe6c3dac11321490f0eb1.jpg img006.thumb.jpg.65d5d25b57f781ff5e6914bc562f2d4b.jpg

I think Robert has it--this is a Washing Machine and Sheet Film Rack, not the regular archival washer. You could probably only wash one 11x14 at a time unless you wanted to stand over the washer and keep prints separated. I have both 8x10 and 16x20 archival washers, and have prints that look like new after 30 years courtesy of proper processing and these washers. If you're making fiber base prints, I would highly recommend the archival washers from Zone VI, they do a good job and don't require a huge amount of water flow.
