Confused concerning likes

Tony Parsons

Recommended Posts

I must confess to a slight confusion concerning 'Likes'. When I went to bed last night (well, early this morning !), I had accumulated 926 likes, from various images and comments I had posted. When I checked this morning, I had two further Alerts, but my Likes had only increased by one !

Have I upset someone ? Are Likes being removed as a punishment for my many transgressions, either by the Moderators or by those who have changed their minds ?

This is not a complaint, just a request to help me alleviate my confusion. Many thanks if someone can help.

Tony

Thanks, Julie, I did know about that, I was just curious (or even peculiar) to know why it was happening, or even who was happening it. I never dreamed for one moment it would have been you !

And, while attempting to post this, I got the dreaded Server Error message - first time for that one !

Probably because I try not to like anybody. :)

That's the waiter refusing to Serve you your Grey Poupon. *sniff*

  • 4 weeks later...

Resurrecting this thread - last night 1120 'Likes'. This morning one more alert, 'Likes' still 1120. Later on today, no more alerts, 'Likes' now down to 1119 !

Totally confused - but if you do rescind a 'Like', which is after all your inalienable right, I would appreciate a PM to let me know why. Many thanks.

'If I like a you and you like a me and we like a both the same..'.. . Someone actually aought to know difference between like and admire. Easy. Admire is like ' fancy.' aa in I wouls fancy a hot toddy about now. Like , ah ,is more serious and can lead to trouble such as matrimony .. This one has to be subject for the philosophers.

Likes and favorites are added to the tally every evening at a certain time,be patient.

Thank you for that, although in my experience this is not always the case - they are added at frequent intervals during the day. Be that as it may, however, it is irrelevant to my original point, which was that likes were being subtracted from my previous total, and I wondered if this was a site-wide phenomenon ? As no-one else has yet indicated that it has affected them, I am still, as indicated in the title of this thread, confused.

This weekend, there was a No Words thread removed. It was the second thread posted within a 24-hour period by the same OP, which is against the "rules" or "guidelines" for the No Words forum. Instead of just letting the OP know that it was against the rules, which would seem the reasonable thing to do, the entire thread was deleted. The last time this was done, maybe a couple of months ago, there was a lengthy thread of regular No Words participants complaining about such an action. Most everyone felt that a note to the offender would have been sufficient and that deleting everyone's photos who took the time and effort to post to the thread was an unnecessarily extreme step to take. As I recall (and I could be wrong because my memory isn't the greatest), there was no response from anyone in charge of such decisions. Perhaps the response was simply to do it again, as was done this weekend, which I guess we can take as an answer to our complaints. In any case, if you had received some LIKES in that thread, when the thread was deleted, all those likes would have been subtracted from your total.
