What camera(s) are you using this weekend?

Recommended Posts

I acquired a Braun Paxette Super II BL this week, not because I really need another Paxette, but because it has the somewhat rare and reputable Steinheil Munchen 50mm Quinon f/2 lens. The lens shows some wear around the filter ring but is quite usable, and I'm curious to see how it performs. Weather permitting, I'll put it through it's paces.

I shot a roll with the Yashica at Flanders Fields Cemetery and a few other cemeteries and memorials around Ypres.

Also shot some 30 frames with a Leica IIIc with 5cm Hektor. Shot another couple of frames with it Sunday at the biannual Dutch Photographica Fair in Hilversum.

Score from the weekend:

- Nicca 3f body from a friend.

- Zeiss Ikonta 520.

- Agfa Billy Clack (No. 74) from a friend.

- Black paint Leica A36 lens cap (probably a 'fake').

- Couple of Film pins (ORWO and Perutz).

- Schneider-Kreuznach 35mm f/2.8 Tessar lens for Robot cameras.

- Roll of expired Agfa 200 Color film from a friend.

That's a nice thing to be doing at this time of year. I spend a lot of my lunch breaks wandering arounf churches in my local area and see a lot of wargraves and memorials - I should take my camera with me and record some of them.

I make it a point to be in the Westhoek during Armistice/Veterans Day. The service at Flanders Fields Cemetery is always a small affair. Some American boy and girl scout groups and their parents and a few people from the town of Waregem. We went on to visit Buffs Road Cemetery, the Saint Charles de Potyze Cemetery and the R.E. Grave Railroad Wood monument to leave flowers and rememberance crosses. We went to Ypres in the afternoon (when the crowds thinned out a bit) and visited the Ramparts Cemetery and the Menin Gate there. We ended the day at the Hooge Crater Museum for lunch and a visit.

The Yashica film is already developed. I'll be scanning it this evening. There's still a few frames on the roll in the Leica to fill up.

The agenda for next weekend is still pretty empty.

It isn't the weekend but I'll be taking a recently acquired (here) F2A and 105/2.5 manual focus lens and some HP-5 out this afternoon to photograph a striking lady for some outdoor portraits. Taking a D4 to experiment with too but tonight I will have a good excuse to make a mess with some chemistry.

I have XP2 in 3 cameras - Leica M3, Nikon F4, and Nikkormat ELW. The weather is supposed to be good and relatively warm, so I may be able to shoot all three rolls with time left for a little Digital with Nikon FX or Ricoh GXR. Want to get the film off to Dwayne's Monday, since it is C 41. Will be placing an order for some Tri X & a couple of "tryers" that have been suggested which I can process here next time around. This thread makes me realize I haven't had a camera out in months. Moving back into out house after 11 years, maintenance, repairs, painting etc. has consumed our summer. By the first of the year, even if it's only paper negatives out of a pinhole I've got to get in gear, (or even use some gear). Time to drag one of my cameras out of the packing cartons. I've got film in my Minolta XE (Kentmere 100) with 50mm f1.4 MC Rokkor. In my Olympus OM-1 with 35mm f2.8 Zuiko I have a roll of cold-stored Plus-X. Also have the Zuiko 75-150 f4 at the ready. The bright focusing screen of the OM makes it a good choice for telescope use. I will try for some "super moon" photos on Sunday using this camera with ether my Orion Apex 127 (a 1540mm focal length MAK) or my Celestron Nexstar 6SE (1500mm f10 SCT).
