rjl photo
In many of the discussion posts about Lightroom alternatives I have not seen much about the recently released ACDSee product, Ultimate 2018. I have downloaded the trial version as well as the "gift" version of DxO Optics Pro 11. [i also still have the paid for set-up file for LR 6). There is a bit of a learning curve to both and I am interested in what others have been finding. In another post here there were 2 pages of posts about alternatives but no one mentioned the ACDSee product. So I'm very curious to know more before I purchase at the end of my trial. I'd appreciate your thoughts about this alternative to Lightroom. Thanks
Spearhead
I went to check this out, turns out that Ultimate is Windows-only so I couldn't. I did download the trial of ACDSee Photo Studio and thought it was pretty good for the first five minutes. I was definitely able to crank out a nice raw conversion despite finding the Develop panel really cluttered. However, I clicked on something (still not sure what) by accident and it started propagating dialogue pop-ups that wouldn't stop. At somewhere around a hundred, I force quit Photo Studio and subsequently removed it. Applications that lock up while creating pop-ups all over the screen aren't going to work in a professional workflow.
