jarrod_diermajer
Hello, Just developed a 120 roll of Ilford SFX 200 and there seems to be 2 marks on the negative. I've attached the images below. Let me know what you think it is. always trying to improve my developing workflow!
Bill Bowes
Your "blobs" appear to be some type of gunk on the negative preventing exposure on the scanner. If the emulsion were missing, you would see black. My SWAG for the moment would be uneven drying with excessive photo-flo on the neg. Check the negative with back lighting & see which side the "blobs" (if any) appear. You may be able to clean them off the non emulsion side. WJT
Hi Jerrod, I can't help you with the blobs but I am impressed with your results with the SFX200. Any details on how you shot this? Filter, exposure, etc? Regards.
rodeo_joe1
It's crud on the negative (or scanner glass). It looks large enough that you ought to be able to see it with the naked eye. Try a dusting brush. It may come off the negative or glass easily. If not, and it's on the negative, then rewashing the film might remove it. The real answer is to use distilled or filtered water throughout processing, together with scrupulous cleanliness during drying, storage and scanning. atansey
Looks to me like the ‘marks’ are deposits from the film development process. I don’t think there’s 2 marks, but rather a continues line of marks, which is what the ‘bubbles’ would produce. When loading the spool, there may have been a slight kink in the film, which could have trapped the bubbles during Dev or Fix, or even Photo Flow; Or, there wasn’t sufficient ‘tapping’ during the process to clear out the bubbles.
