dcstep
I use BackBlaze for my offsite archive backup. I've got a 16TB WD drive for my onsite archive. As part of my BackBlaze backup service, they send me this quarterly report of hard drive failure statistics. Since they're dealing in Petabytes of data, on over 86-thousand drives, they provide some somewhat useful reliability statistics. See the Q3 2017 report here: 2017 Hard Drive Reliability by Drive Size and Brand Some particular Seagate drives had really high failure rates, but they continue to install more Seagates, but of different models. No maker is immune from failure. I'm not sure what conclusion we can draw, if any, but I thought that some of you might enjoy this data.
