Sandy Vongries
I'm trying to keep the budget under $300 or so FYI -- Don't know if you have pulled the trigger on your printer purchase -- got a pop up from B&H Pixma Pro 100 @ $129. Ed_Ingold
My daugher-in-law has a Pixma Pro-100. It is a very nice printer, using dye-based ink. She uses it to reproduce water color paintings, and the effect is very realistic.
Spearhead
Don't know if anyone is still looking but the Pixma Pro-100 is currently available for $59. I don't think this special runs more than a day or two. Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
Tony Parsons
'Hope' I don't need a new one myself, but my second-hand Epson S22 (£10 two years ago !) has recently decided it doesn't like the non-OEM inks I've been using since I got it ! No updates or software changes AFAIK - has anyone experienced this, and is there a work around please ?

Thanks, Jeff, Adorama says mine is on the way.

Do watch for Canon's ink / free paper deals, they are amazing.
Ed_Ingold
B&H has a deal on a Canon Pixma Pro-10 - $245 after discounts and a rebate. It is similar to the Pro-100, but uses pigment inks rather than dye based. It is also about 15 pounds heavier (52 pounds). t's not a speed demon, but will do an 8x11 print in about a minute.I have a Pro-10, my daughter-in-law has a Pro-100. Both produce excellent colors. I have always wanted to try a Canon printer and this current Pro-100 price makes it almost free. I do keep my displays profiled with the i1Pro. We'll see how I fare with the Pro-100. I'll need some smaller paper sizes for the Pro-100 too, everything does not get printed at 13X19! ;o)
Sandy Vongries
Adorama has some papers that come in bulk that work well with the 100. I also bought a 150 sheet box of Costco / Kirkland 8.5x10 that worked very well and was inexpensive. I recommend that you check the Canon site regularly - I got an enormous amount of free paper with a cartridge set when they have the occasional promotion. Link. Robin Smith
But if you want to print on matte paper you'll need pigment inks, like the Pro 10 (and up) has. Not true. I print all the time on Canon Matte paper with the regular Canon inks. Not sure why you say this(?) The only issue with the Pro 100 is that it cannot print full size nor borderless on matte paper, which is irritating, so you have to end up with a print with large borders, which looks nice, but It is annoying not being able to use the whole area of the paper. Carl Stone
My Pro-100 will be here on Friday, but, I'm going to California for a week on Thursday, so I won't be able to do anything with it until late next week when I get back.
