Jack McRitchie
I often page through the Trending Photos section and will often stop and look at photos I like. If you click a thumbnail, just view the picture and then click the x, you are returned to where you left off. No problem. However, if you click the picture itself either to see a larger view, read the comments or comment yourself, there's no way to get back to the first view and then return to where you left off. Instead you must use the back arrow which then returns you not to where you left off but to the following page. There's no way to get back to where you left off without starting over. For me this is a real irritation since I often comment on pictures.
Julie H
Have you tried "Open in a New Tab" (in Windows) or whatever the equivalent is for Apple?
Sanford
Try: right click, select: open in new window
Supriyo
I suggest, opening in a new window be made the default when clicking on 'view details'. Right now, its rather useless, since its impossible to return where I left off, and difficult to remember everytime to right click and open in a new tab.
Jack McRitchie
There are way too many navigation problems and too much clicking and scrolling for those of us that are frequent users and commenters on the photo side of PN. It seems to me that these long-standing problems should be solvable without resorting to all kinds of work-arounds on the part of the members. If we want this site to be attractive to new members (which I presume is the case since we've lost so many of the old contributors) it has to be simple and understandable (one of Glenn's goals as I recall) and easy to navigate. As for the suggestions from Sanford and Julie, I'll give it a try but it doesn't at all alter my point... Jack McRitchie
For those of you who are somewhat lost like myself when it comes to things technological I finally discovered the hidden doorway that allows you to open images in the Trending Photos portfolio, make a comment and return to where you started. No need to right click. When you run your cursor over a thumbnail, a dialogue box appears;. In the upper left hand corner there's an eye icon with the word view. Placing your cursor on that word and clicking will open a new window which is the full size image with all comments. You can leave your comment if you wish and then close that window. You'll find yourself back at the thumbnail where you left off. Hope this helps those who are as computer illiterate as I am. The site needs a user guide with some of the navigation rules, it would go a long way to relieve a lot of stress.
