Film Camera Week for October 13

Recommended Posts

Time to start our next thread. As many photos as you like from your film camera. I'll start with a few.

I think I might have used this one a few years back.

I've been scanning some old slides. This was taken at a camera show in 1965 with a Yashica Penta J, its 50mm f/2 Auto Yashinon semi-automatic lens, and home-processed Anscochrome.

The camera appears to be a Pentax of some kind, so presumably the big lens is a (1,000mm?) Takumar.

Lovely work with the Nikon and the Kentmere, Erko. Rather a mixed bag from me, due to some very restrictive weather, but a fine weekend is promised so I'll try to create a few more contributions a little later. First, a couple of frames from the surprisingly competent Agfa Isola II, using Iford HP5 Plus developed in PMK Pyro.

I managed to get out with the Mamiya 645 1000s for a couple of hours this week in an attempt to capture some of the very changeable skies. The lens was the 55-110mm Mamiya Sekor f/4.5 fitted with an orange filter, the film was Bergger Pancro 400 developed in PMK Pyro, and the scans are from an Epson V700.

Mention of the good ol' Yashica Electro 35 GSN in several recent threads prompted me to blow the dust off one and load up some Arista EDU Ultra 100. I haven't used the camera for a couple of years and I'd forgotten just what a reliable and user-friendly camera it is, though I hadn't forgotten the quality of that 45mm Color-Yashinon DX f/1.7 lens... I'll post some samples, since things seem a little slow this weekend; the film was developed in PMK Pyro and scanned on an Epson V700 Photo using Silverfast SE software.

Bit of a slow weekend so I'll add some before I leave for church.

Recently ran a roll of Kentmere 100 through my Canonet GIII 17, which hasn't been used in a couple of years. Couldn't get the meter to respond to a new Wein cell so I just used sunny 16. One from that roll today and more later in week when new thread starts.

Late afternoon with Canonet, overexposed just a bit

Surprisingly, the light seals are still good, considering I bought the camera new from dealer stock at family camera shop in 1982. More from this camera later in week.

Just picked up a nice Pentax ES II, though with mirror locked up and meter not working.

Found that the mechanical speeds were working fine, and with a little cleaning and lubrication got the mirror to work again (common issue with Spotmatics). The meter was not working due to the plastic base of the switch having a crack in it, which was preventing contact. Once I repaired this, the meter came to life and it seems accurate. Look forward to testing the camera once I can replace the seals.
