benstephenslondon
Hello All. I have just acquired a Contax T2 35mm camera. I'd like to know if there are any T2 users out there & what film stock they've use to good results or stock to avoid. I'm looking to use the the camera in a discreet/reportage capacity. Therefore I may choose to avoid using the flash. I want to get the best out of the camera lens. I'd like to get natural to slightly saturated colours & good contrast. I'm not too worried about grain... To a point. Thanks in advance!
stan_belyaev
Portra 800 or UC400, developed in a good lab. (i use a&i)The lens of T2 makes colors golwing and warm. (i have not seen any other lens that gives so beautiful colors)
stan_belyaev
do not develop your films in local pharmacies or supermarkets - waste of film, money and time. (i have gone through this) Low light flash synch. is 1/30. With high speed films T2 will give you amazing pictures (properly exposed foregrownd and very good background) when you use flash, but make sure that your hands are not shaky (better hold your breath)
Ian Rance
I have a T2 and really enjoy using it. When I have a CD made and show it on my monitor at work, colleagues note the wonderful colour and sharpness. The lens sees very much like the human eye - similar perspective, detail in shadow areas and is able to pick out fine detail. For film, I second the advice about a faster film - Fuji Superia 400 works for me. Avoid Ferrania - does not work so well in the T2. A few hints - the aperture priority mode has a limited top shutter speed, therefore be careful with use in bright conditions (leave camera in auto) and make use of the excellent manual focus (set to 10 feet and shoot from the hip). Lastly, it does suffer a bit from vignetting - blue skies show this up. Not at all noticable with any other subjects though. Keep us posted, Ian
ofey_kalakar
beautiful camera! I wish I still had mine. For film I used Reala100, Provia100 & 400 and I think NPC and Portra.<div></div>
stan_belyaev
Strange example. Contax T2 lens has minimal light fall off, but it is not that bad..... Typical sample of my T2 pictures (film Portra800, scanner minolta multi pro, the film was developed and printed at A&I)<div></div>
stan_belyaev
Do use fill flash during daytime. Another sample (kodak UC400)<div></div>
stan_belyaev
The pictures/colors of Contax t2 are not perfect, but addicting (if the film is properly developed)<div></div>
benstephenslondon
Thanks very much for all your infomation. I will be putting these films to the test Although the light in London is pretty grey & flat at the moment, so I will be putting them to task in Thailand & the South of France between now & the summer. I will post the results. I really like the look of the Portra 800. I've only used the 160 before. I think in the meantime London will be getting Tri-X & Iford HP5. slowernet
I like the look of Fuji 400H (ne NPH) in my T2. I just tried a roll of Portra 400 NC, but haven't sent it to the lab yet. <br /> <br /> You can find a small community of T2 users, and a lot of sample photos <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/contax_t2/">here</a>. plastic
I also like using portra 800 and shoot process as 400, really vivid colors, so may be unpleasant to some... The T2 is definetly a great camera. I also owned the minilux (great pics but annoying dial control that was too easy to turn on, making the lens try to pop out in your jacket). And the rollei 35. I would say imho that all 3 are equal and great point and shoots. Have been trying to find a portable digital equivalent and can't... Here's some of my pics: http://www.photo.net/photos/Plastic
