Not only fully extended but, at the suggestion of another who had the problem, I added an empty box under the sheet as it came out to maintain a level exit of the sheet. Lots of printers have commented on the problem but no remedy yet that fixes the kick-out problem with my machine which is about a year old. My problem is with the 11x17 sheets.
