As always, an interesting look back The plastic lens article was especially interesting. Of course later there were some plastic triplets (Pocket Instamatic 20 and 30), but no series lenses that used plastics for all the elements. A few zooms had a resin element in between glass elements. Why not more progress? I think advances in glass manufacturing and lens design have largely eliminated advantages to be gained in plastics. Now, plastic housings and lens mounts, that's another story.
