Mike Gammill
Bill- the Double-X looks good with OA developer. While not a bargain anymore, I've noticed more and more people are using it. You should share your developing data with the Massive Development Chart. Bill Bowes
Development was 16 min @ 70f. My "standard" time for just about every film in OA. This was a roll purchased several years ago. . . finally got a "round to-it" going. It came out OK, but is comparable to my current UFX/Kentmere 100 materials. Mike Gammill
Thanks, Bill. It's hard to beat Kentmere's price. The days of Double-X (Eastman 5222) short ends at 5 cents a foot are long gone. I'm currently loading mine from 100' bulk that cost about 80 USD. More than Ilford film, much less than Kodak Tri-X and TMY. But a lot more than Kentmere and Arista EDU Ultra. I've standardized on Kodak's HC110 for most of my work, though I do still have some Rodinal on hand. If I shoot any more 4x5 I have a gallon of DK-50 to mix. Bill Hello Bill What size engine is that B&S? Is it a four or two stroke? I don't remember them doing two stroke but wondered because of the photo of the guy welding on the expansion chamber
Bill Bowes
Hello everyone. Don the B&S engine is 200cc, 4 cycle & puts out approx. 16 HP. The World Formula class has evolved from some B&S engines "ripped" off lawn mowers, or roto-tillers, into an engine that is pure race design. This design shows in the cost. . around $2k, but they are a "controlled" engine, basically a box stock race engine. My friend Rus is doing a weld on the expansion chamber of a larger 125cc, two cycle, engine.. . . . never a dull moment at the races ! Even after 1700 hrs.
