10935154
Hi, I'm considering buying the Shen Hao or Da Yi 6x17 roll film back (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAwMFgxMDAw/z/7VEAAOSwjDZYcEbG/$_1.JPG) for my Zone VI 4x5 camera. I believe I have the Wista version of the camera, so I may have to buy a Graflok bak and make an adapter for it. Is anyone using either of these products? I'd be interested in your opinions and gotchas in getting started. Thanks Mohammed Shamma Petaluma, California
dan_fromm2
The significant gotcha is that using a 6x17 roll holder on a 4x5 camera requires an extension back. This limits the range of focal lengths that can be used.
rodeo_joe1
Why not just shoot on 5x4 film and cut the central 5cm strip out of it? Exact same effect.
dan_fromm2
Why not just shoot on 5x4 film and cut the central 5cm strip out of it? Exact same effect. Its too easy and it wastes film. Please don't ask how many shots it will take for the investment in a 617 roll holder to pay back.
bobpeters
How about a dark slide made with a hole that is little less than half way across the 4" dimension of the holder, that way you can get two on one sheet, and some separation of the two images?
