frank_miles1
Just a heads up for anyone making a trip to Ottawa, Canada. Yousef Karsh had a studio in Ottawa's Chateau Laurier hotel, as well as living there for many years. Last week my wife and I were in Ottawa and were delighted that there is a statue of Yousef Karsh on the corner by the hotel. The statue was donated by the people of Armenia (where he was born), and unveiled in June of this year. We went inside and asked a concierge about Karsh and were taken to a large room with maybe 6 of his prints on the wall, including the iconic photo of Churchill. Worth a look if you are in Ottawa. GerrySiegel
I think his portrait work is brilliant. And some studies I can admire and aspire to. I attended a lecture by Karsh at our University of Hawaii back in the 1970s and have an autographed portfolio of his most famous shots. Canada would be nice but Ottawa is a little out of my range lately...the display would be worth it though.
