Nikon Recent Firmware Updates, July 2017

I don't want to extract the firmware onto my phone. I want to download it on my phone and expand and use the file later.

And what about those Nikon users that only use the vastly more efficient Android or Linux operating systems? A zip file is the same across platforms, and the extracted Nikon .bin firmware only "runs" on the camera.

I seem to remember previously downloading firmware updates on a phone. So this stupid OS specific restriction appears to be a new thing.

So now all we need is for Nikon to get off the pot and do some firmware for the D7100 too. I am pretty sure they could stick in a VR menu item, and I'm quite sure they could restore the focus trapping that was enabled on the D7000 and re-enabled on the D7200. I'd probably need it about once a year, but I'd be happy if it were there.

Ok, partly solved. I can access the file by requesting the desktop site instead of the mobile version. It still means I need a PC or Crapple to extract the bin file.

My situation at the moment is that my only internet access is by Android phone. I don't have my PC networked. So I have to transfer the file from phone to PC, extract the firmware, write it to a card and then put the card into the camera. What a faff!

What's wrong with a straightforward, cross platform ZIP or RAR file Nikon? Then I could write the BIN file via WiFi directly to a card in the camera - couldn't I?

The firmware versions mentioned are they released in July 2017 only??

The ones I listed above were all released in 2017, some very recently in July but some were earlier this year. For example the one for the D7200 was from March 2017.

You can follow that link and search for other ones not listed. E.g. this D7100 firmware upgrade is from 2015: Nikon | Download center | D7100 Firmware

Are the firmware updates cumulative?

I am running C 1.10 on my D750. Can I install the C 1.12 update or do I need to install the C1.11 update first?

I suspect they are cumulative, but the instructions stress checking the current firmware version to be sure it is "correct".
