michaelchadwickphotography
Enough, guys. Michael has a point with the use of "but" which indicates a contradiction to what was previously stated. William has a point that he wasn't criticizing and has always been very supportive of others and their posts. His track record along those lines should afford him the occasional benefit of the doubt. Using "and" instead of "but" would certainly have helped, yes. Michael, your post implied (at least to me) that you felt no other approach was viable, and William was only saying that other methods combined with a web site are even more effective. William Michael
I just don't know why you felt obligated to comment at all. The "but" and all that followed in your comment was not needed as you all ready gave your advice. I did not feel obligated to comment, I chose to comment. The reasons why I made the comment was because I thought it would add clarity to my previous (post #3) and because I agree with the importance of a (excellent) website as a marketing tool. On the first point of clarification – if you read post #3, you’ll note that the main “advice” is two pointed: “a) Have a variety of Marketing Platforms and collect data concerning which one works b) Have consistent Branding across all your Marketing Platforms” Then I mentioned “rapport” and how one must be always awake to building rapport Then (this is an important point) as one example of building RAPPORT I mentioned “business cards” So, therefore, when I read your post, (up to which point in the conversation I don’t think anyone had mentioned “websites”) I noted that you linked “websites” to being modern day “business cards” . . . And that prompted me to think “Oh, maybe the OP and other readers think that I was suggesting something like ‘go out and get a million business cards and hand them out and that’s all you need to do for your marketing’ ” – And that was NOT anywhere near what my advice was. Hence, in as few words as possible, I endorsed your view of the importance of websites and sought to clarify my previous. I trust that answers your question. WW PS. added after M. Chadwick's comment concerning the word "but" "but" had an 'understood' meaning that it was pertaining to the tag phrase "That's It" i.e. my meaning was 'but that's not all of it' There was no offense meant in the use of the word "but". Perhaps nuances of the formal use of "but" is different in USA and AUS. Edited July 26, 2017 by William Michael
William Michael
Enough, guys. etc Thanks for intervening and for explaining, but I had already replied. I trust that M Mowery appreciates that my reply was well intended, as are all my other replies, especially those directed to the OP. WW
michaelmowery
All is fine William. Moving on I think unless someone else has something new to contribute I believe we covered the main points. Its the first client booked that is the hardest once thats done it opens up some additional options like referrals and asking the new client to help speak to other potential clients in there office building.
michaelmowery
I will add one more point from my own personal experience. Get in contact with the outside agencies that handles your corp clients website and brochures. Those are the people who are image quality educated and in search for great images to best represent there work. They can recommend or push your name off to potential clients and better yet put you on the recommended photographers list. But only if they like your work.
