chazfenn
Not that its anything unusual for me. New guy, retired after 50 years in the business, started in the U.K. migrated to Europe, wandered about & finally almost settled in MD, USA. Mostly industrial/commercial work, followed by ring sports for a publishing company. Used everything from 16mm up through 8X10". Did lots of studio work with both continuous & strobe. I'm supposed to post 5 images, but I can't find the FAQ to tell me where to post them. A search turns up nothing & the guidelines just say make 'em mine & keep em small. Can some kind soul tell me where they should go? Is there a specific album or something, or do I just post scattered about in the forums they most work in? Should I host on line & link or do they need to reside on here directly? TIA.
JDMvW
You've come at just the right time to join on a level even with the old-timers. Pretty much none to few of us have yet found our footing after recent interface changes. I didn't know that five pictures were "required", if so, that's new, I think. However, I'm pretty sure they should be put in your "portfolio". The most direct path is probably to pull down a menu from your avatar/picture in the very top line of the page when you're logged in. Many paths work, however. Be sure to SAVE after you've done stuff.... Welcome to what is, for better or for worse, one of the more "intellectual" of the photosites. Landrum Kelly
Chazfenn, can you see the little orange upload box at the top right corner of your screen? If you can, then click that and you will likely see how to start uploading photos. --Lannie

Norma Desmond
Chazfenn and JDM, I'm not sure but I think there may now be a 5 photo minimum for new members as a way to keep out spammers. I'm not aware of anything official having been said and am certainly not aware of any published guidelines for the newly-designed site or even any FAQs available. I am aware of the very lengthy thread William linked to which, despite Leslie's heroic efforts, is a bit hard to wade through. I forget exactly where I heard it, but I think there was some talk about the possibility of instituting a photo posting minimum for new users as a way to avoid spam. 2 We didn't need dialogue. chazfenn
Its in the "welcome splash screen". I uploaded the required 5 images but no one has looked or anything yet so I don't know if I'm approved or not!
William Michael
Its in the "welcome splash screen". I uploaded the required 5 images but no one has looked or anything yet so I don't know if I'm approved or not! It appears that none of your comments on threads are awaiting Moderation Clearance. You Profile Page is functional and running. I see no indication that you are not a functional Member What has happened is you (I assume you) has set your Personal URL to a Location Map of "Western, MD, USA", when in most cases Members have that set to their Profile Page Here is your Profile Page: {LINK} You seem to have no images in your portfolio. I am ignorant of the welcome splash screen that you mention, however the comments by Fred (above) about it being a process to stop spam makes sense. You can upload images to your Portfolio and make Galleries - in those Galleries people can see them, provided that you select the Images to "Public". chazfenn
That's really odd! Depending on how I access my "home" I get 2 completely different screens. If I click on my avatar in the opening screen (the one here attached) i go to one place, but from your link I go to anothet that I cant access any other way??? One is the .JPG attached, the other is the one you're linked to? In "mine" I see the 5 images as requested at the registration process, on the other it shows no images uploaded! http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h29/moosp/photo%20net_zpshoyem1xg.jpg

chazfenn
Something is definitely messed up, in one I have a personal description & so on completed, but the other is totally blank. Neither shows me any maps though.

chazfenn
Thanks. Why does my portfolio have 5 images but the count shows zero?
Norma Desmond
Why does my portfolio have 5 images but the count shows zero? The site was redesigned and relaunched a few months ago and the portfolio side of the site is not yet functioning well. You will find numerous glitches, most of which have been brought to the attention of administration. Technicians are said to be working hard to get things to function well. So far, I've experienced more progress on the forum side of things than the portfolio side. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!

In the top-right corner of the screen, there should be a link for uploading, net to your profile picture. I hope this is helpful.
chazfenn
Thanks, I eventually discovered that. The problem wasn't uploading, but recording the fact they'd already uploaded!
