Fuji X100T raw + fine (film simulation question)

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I'll be borrowing a FUJI X100T for a week. Trying to do some research before hand so I can be prepared!

If I shoot in the RAW + Fine mode, will the accompanying jpegs have the film simulation mode I've selected applied to them? Or will they be regular?

I'm interested in shooting raw, but I don't have lightroom (yet) - so it would be ideal to have a RAW file waiting for me, and jpegs in 'Classic Chrome' for immediate use.

Thank you

The jpegs will have film simulation, white balance, in camera edits. Raw has no link other than exposure, keep an eye on the histogram. Raw is a digital negative. The Fine designation jpeg is not as compressed as the Normal jpeg. RAW-FINE is the way to go with the Fuji system. You have the ability to turn out a fantastic JPEG. There are certain cases when the jpeg from Fuji camera's are the preferred over a RAW. If you hit sharpening right, Shadow-Highlight right, color, you will be amazed. So, what you see is what you get. WYSIWYG when you choose the Preview Picture Effect in the menu. All of your decisions regarding shadow, highlight, color, film simulation will be revealed in screen. Have a blast! Once you get you head around the menu, your there.
