I want to add a gimbal to my Phantom 2

I have a DJI phantom 2 drone that I use with a GoPro 3+ to mainly take still photos. I am thinking of adding a 3rd party gimbal that will allow me to use the battery on the Phantom 2 and will support the GoPro. I have found some on Ebay that look like they might work, but I would appreciate any info from someone who has actually added one to their Phantom 2 and likes it. Thanks

There is (was?) actually a DJI gimbal for exactly that purpose, which integrates directly with the P2's flight controller, power, etc. Just works. Some installation work involved, of course. Though I'm much more frequently flying an Inspire with its better camera, I still have the P2/GoPro combo, with the retrofitted P2 gimbal.

I should say, though, that even a low-cost P3 (they're cheap these days!) is going to be a lot, lot, lot easier to work with - and you avoid the GoPro's lens, which is really not well suited to aerial photos.

Anyone have parts list / source for the parts to do this? I want to use my go-pro on the Phantom 2 Vision +. I would like to be able to hot-swap with the Vision Camera.

I tried searching the site, as I'm sure I can't be the first person to ask this, but I was unable to find the info. Forgive a new guy?

You're not going to be able to hot-swap with the native, integrated camera. On the Vision (and later already-equipped-with-a-camera DJI products), the gimbal and camera are simply too much a part of the whole rig's operating system.
