derrick_morin3
Hello, I am looking for a printer that I can use at events where I'll need to shoot and print on site. I'll need to pre-print cards on the back with standardized image/info, then print the front with a photo on-site. The cards should be around baseball card size, give or take. Canon Wi-Fi compatible would be great, but SD reader would be fine. I have to be able to pack the printer in luggage for air travel. Something like the Canon SELPHY 1200 would be perfect - if it could print both sides. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance, Derrick
rodeo_joe1
Could you not pre-print the non-photo side on another printer before feeding the cards into a Selphy? Not sure what you mean by standardised image/info. Is this different on every print or not? You could go old-school and write an order number or suchlike on the back. The Selphy would be quite wasteful unless you can format the pictures 4 to a "page" or something like that.
derrick_morin3
Hi Joe, I don't know if the non-photo side of Selphy prints could be printed elsewhere. They are not designed to be printed on the back, so my guess would be no. Although I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried it. To your other points, the standardized image would be the same for each print. The back would have a graphic specific to the organization printed on it, and the front would be a portrait/photo of an event participant, given to them on the spot. So the Selphy would not be wasteful - the desired product is a single 2-sided print, given to a single participant. The Selphy is set up for exactly that - minus the 2-sided feature. Getting 4 per page would not be useful.

rodeo_joe1
I thought the Selphy printer cards were uncoated and absorbent on the back? Maybe I'm thinking of the similar Kodak Easyshare dye-sub printer? I know there were reverse-writeable postcards available for one or the other. Whatever. The sticker idea sounds easier and more bullet-proof.
Ed_Ingold
It is hard to write on the back of a Selphy photo with a ball point pen, and the ink is slow to dry. While not coated like the front, it is a very dense material with a slick surface. You can use a pencil, but make sure the print is on a hard surface so the writing doesn't show through. You can also use a fine-tipped marker. Selphy post card medium may be different.
