JMphotographyweddings
We are looking for a card reader can anyone point us in the direction of something that they own or currently use as we cant seem to find anything that is recommended most of the reviews on Amazon are contradictory to say the least so maybe someone here can recommend something decent we have both SD and CF thanks
Ed_Ingold
AFIK, any USB3 card reader will handle the latest CF and SD/SDXC cards. Many handle both types of card, and some have a third slot for micro-SD cards (e.g., for GoPro, GPS units and some smart phones). Most cost under $30. USB3 is backwards compatible with USB2 or USB1. Jochen_S
I think I have an ancestor of Transcend TS-RDF9K somewhere. Buy enough of these buggers! - If you have a backup PC in use get 2 or more readers for home, so you can get each card into both PCs avoiding surplus inserting into readers. Pack extra readers into your laptop and camera bags. IMHO readers should be in a highly visible color. - In doubt paint or tape them.
rodeo_joe1
I also have a Transcend USB 3.0 multi-card reader. I recommend one. They're small and look a bit cheap, but work absolutely fine.
Dieter Schaefer
Have used the USB 2.0 version and am currently using the USB 3.0 version; never had an issue with either: Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader (UDMA 7) LRW400CRBNA
Tim_Lookingbill
About two months ago I pulled a GoPro from the bottom of my local spring fed river and tried to find the owner by viewing the video on its microSD card through a Sandisk MobileMate SD+ memory card reader model SDDR 104 plugged into my 2010 Mac Mini OS 10.6.8. I thought I was going to have problems viewing or even having my Mac see the folder registry. I found the folder with the videos and they played straight off the reader without any hic-cups. They transferred to my Mac. No problems. I hadn't used that reader for years. Still can't find the owner, though.
GerrySiegel
Lexar USB 3.0. CF and SD slots only. I have two of them and they work well. Several years down the road. Sandisk one failed so I switched to Lexar reader. I like it.
