Ferrania BW film is back

Recommended Posts

I don't mind other people being skeptical, as all people should not take anything on face value. I don't even mind if people are cynical or negative, because I know that it won't rub off on me. I think the people at Ferrania are not that interested in cynical feedback, as it contributes nothing to the company or to its customers.

No N. American labs can provide the proprietary processing Scala still requires, right? Loved the old 200 version, especially in 120. Guessing http://www.dr5.com/ can handle it.

Yeah, noticed that no N.A. labs..yet. but doesn't rule out you can't ship elsewhere. Also there are a lot of people shooting film that aren't Americans right?

Another test shot from the non-existant vapourware film.....:)

Not quite, Dave. That test shot by Dave Bias was widely circulated over a month ago when FF's P30 press release surfaced. It's still not on the market. Here's just one of the links to the unattributed shot above and to FF's other test pix:

Crikey. Tell you what, Watson. If this Ferrania company turns out to be a charade, I'll buy a Chupa-Chup from the Holy Land (thus being both Halal and Kosher at the same time) and send it to you in a (fake) velvet-lined display box with a certificate of authenticity that you have in your possession a genuine artifact from the country where Jesus walked and preached the Kingdom.

Shot any yet? That's what I thought. Still curious what's holding up the release, aren't you?

Nothing is holding up the release...it goes on sale on the 13th still as planned. As to the test shot, I didn't say it was new...I said "another test shot."

You sure seem hell bent on claiming this company is some kind of fraud.

Oh, by the way...the first series of test shots in many articles was done by Matteo Di Giovanni in Italy. The NYC series was done by Dave Bias. Thus...multiple tests by various photographers. Just thought I'd clear that up. Four more days and everyone can buy some themselves.

FF has been fraught for years. I do hope their luck improves with P30.It needs to be flawless and in their backers' hands soon. That's all I've been saying. They can't stay credible if they plan to beta test their film on customers. You can't re-coat film. Buona fortuna, FF.

I've got a half dozen rolls on order. The results from various tests look very good. I like the high contrast from HC110...looked great. I'll post some shots from the non-existent vapourware film once I process some and scan. I am very interested in the low speed for street and portraiture shooting at wider apertures. Nice having another film company choice. Looking forward to the color E6 to be street ready.

I just finished a roll of film processed in HC110. I have to say it is beautiful. Good grain, contrast and tonal range. I'll get some sample up after I finish roll #2. A few friends are doing the same. Great to have new film. I see Watson is doing his negative trolling as usual. Edited by Dave Luttmann

BTW, great pun, Dave, though I suspect it was unintentional.Thought I was on your "ignore" list? So much more to get excited about than this "meh" material, from what I've seen of it.
