Leslie Reid
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etcAre you new to this thread? We post one image per week. Summer seems to have arrived about two weeks ago on California's north coast with the return of the dependably foggy mornings. Depending on how high the fog ceiling is, we get either a lot of dew or none. This was from a relatively low-ceiling day two weeks ago --dew on a horsetail:

Leslie Reid
I think it's May rather than March Oops! I was doing OK up through the second M. Thanks for pointing out the error--I think it should be repaired as of a few minutes ago. Note to self: do not post threads before morning caffeine. And that's a really cool photo, Matthew! Gup
For 4 or 5 days, two weeks ago, I was visited by a small flock of these White-Crowned Sparrows. They appear every spring like clockwork and empty my feeders on their way further north to summer near Hudson Bay. They are quite shy so it's difficult for me to catch them unaware as I shoot with 105mm or less. We had a couple of hot summer-like days so this puddle was popular.
