Site is still unusable...

I quite agree ~ and would rather see the entire site taken down and reworked than try to negotiate this mess.

This isn't working, and it's time to be adult and admit that it will never work no matter how much time, money or effort is put to it. Let's move on, either back to a known website that may have been limited or forward with a company that can provide what is needed.

This is not professional and worst of all it makes the entire pnet community look both stupid and silly.

The spastic refresh problem is still here for me. If I log out and close the site then reopen, it will disappear for a few hours.

I am not using an iOS device-as I said I'm using up-to-date Firefox 53.0.3 on OS X 10.12.4(I need to do an update, but it's not more than a couple of weeks out of date).

I find it hard to believe that the olive designation on the previous page meaning "feature, not a bug" can be correct. In any case, it makes me reluctant to log on.

In the galleries I am unable to add info in the text box for camera, shutter speed and iso. The aperture box seems fixed at 0.0. I haven't been to the site for years. After reading this discussion thread, I wonder how much effort I should spend here.

After VERY careful consideration, there is one and only one good way to handle this:

~EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP PAYING FOR THIS UNTIL IT IS FIXED~

No revenue means the owners and admins get to make the decision to fix this or shut it down. I wouldn't pay for this site the way it is, and no one else should have to either!

As mentioned in another thread, but I'll add it here as well, one of my computers at least has a problem with loading, which I have yet to figure out, but I suspect it has something to do with javascripts or other issues. The site simply never finishes loading, and the various parts of the page that appear and then disappear and then reappear do so in new locations depending on the size of the ads that are flashing by. No other sites do this on this computer, and this one has only done it for a few days. Something is not right, and nothing I've done so far has improved it.

Heavens to Murgatroyd, Joseph!. Sounds almost like the age of strategic patience is wearing thin. I joke, but it is really a long slow decline for we who have been on board for many years. My sense is that there is no guiding presence that cares enough to work hard enough and spend the effort and money to make it work. If I am wrong, I would be delighted to be wrong too. It will take a new Moses to lead the people. Well at least new impresario.

Not sure if this is a bug or not but I am unable to renew cannot find place to do so but continue to get notices that It is due

I think I heard that PN is no longer accepting renewal payments. The service is free to all until all the bugs are fixed.

@gerry Siegel ~ Not sure about you, but when I bite into an apple and discover half a worm...I stop eating! The emperor has no clothes. And what may be worse is the insistence of those (who shall remain nameless), not to abandon a sinking ship.

Good leadership would have turned into great leadership had they admitted 'It Just Ain't Working' and went in a different direction with a competent web-site-developer-guru or whatever they call themselves these days.

I'm only here part time but for the love of G-D, we have a dead horse here!

I think Joseph that many have given up hoping and like old soldiers ( MacArthur come to mind) just fade fade away. ) Clearly a few manage to participate with a little more enthusiasm and I salute them for loyalty or something. But I would not disagree with your assessment. Moses is still in the bull rushes.

Well, site is working on my Apple desktop and laptop.

Only thing I really don't like, it is front page, do you guys think users like to scroll down? No need for those large banners. I have nice 24 inch monitor and if front page doesn't fit to it, it doesn't fit to most people's monitors. It is very simple rule, front page must fit in view, open any serious business website, Banks, Google, everything fit in one page. Amazon and Apple exclusions, but with their market share they don't care, maybe that's why their stocks down last few days.

Still and issue, from day one of the new site design, on Safari, where the page reloads and reloads over and over again unless I log out, log back in. Is there a fix for this frustrating behavior coming?

It would be nice if whatever images were displayed in the initial Portfolio view were user selectable. Choosing a particular gallery would be nice too. Frankly, I do not believe that whomever is behind the curtain with customizing this site knows how to do that... :(

As to those BIG splash headers? Take a look at the site on a mobile device, and you will understand why they are like that. This site has been optimized for mobile--not desktop. Such a waste of space and a frustration, as the header for the portfolio will not hold the chosen user image regardless of how many times it is set. Just empty grey space the next time one visits.

Oh well. All too many are taking Joseph's path. True to his word, he has not been back since the last time he posted. There are quite a few regulars I am missing these days...

I'm wondering why I have to sign in every time visiting P.Net? It is annoying and why the change? Seems like in general the template for this site is too complicated for the application of Photography and its purposes. To honor the membership here, it might be well to search for other firmware, software, tear it up and start over ware.

Yes. this has started happening the last couple of weeks for me as well. Why the drift back to old problems? You've lost a lot of users with this change I suspect. Too bad.

i sympathise with people who have to do that but it only occasionally happens to me (ios, safari on iphone/ipad). the fact the sign on problem occurs intermittently for some is worrying for future growth.

Time to get back to work. The change was exhausting and a nightmare for the powers that be too, but its one of those things to take another whack at it. I hope for the best.

Don, I am not buying it--and sadly this has hobbled along far too long to have any rational answer. PN is presumably owned by a company called NameMedia. Said corporation also owns NameCheap.com--a supposedly VERY large domain registrar who offers hosting services and security certificates as well. Presumably by their claims and filings they are worth many tens of millions of dollars. Or maybe that's just a Trump-Fact.

There are exceptionally talented programmers, administrators, and platform coders who know these applications we are running on like the back of their hands--and have customized HUMONGOUS sites with more activity traffic than PN ever thought about. They work very reasonably--many for $25-50 bucks an hour. I see nothing happening in all of our punch-list of complaints that could not have been knocked out in a week--two at the most. Yet we are left with various messes that have continued for the past 5 months--left in the dark most of the time as to what is really happening--and a significant number have become so frustrated they have left. Why is this happening? Is it too much or somehow untoward for us to have a real answer out of an entity that is supposedly quite solvent?

Meh. I have another complaint to make about something in another post--another lumbering bug that really makes managing galleries a really impossible task... :(

Here is another bug that has been complained extensively about--and I myself have noted in a couple posts, maybe even this one!

delete_error2.jpg.7db81c83c9d3e30d5f8f97f358d97987.jpg

This is what often happens when trying to delete a photo from a gallery. Not being able to curate a gallery is pretty disappointing--as the idea here is how an artist or photographer wishes to display their work.

Glenn, is there any hope that this is on whomever's list? Can we expect that this might be addressed before some of us get too old to remember that it's a problem? (meant to be funny--not insulting...) :)
