Sinar Norma question

Hello LF photographers,

I'm considering acquiring a Sinar Norma 4x5 camera, and have been trying to find which (if any) models of 120 roll film backs it will accommodate. I've read that some of the early Normas did not have a standard back, and therefore would not accept roll film backs without modification.

Many thanks,

Raj

You need to make sure it has an "International" or Graflok back. Identified by two sliding clips that hold rollfilm and Polaroid backs, etc. in place of a removeable ground-glass screen.

The screen itself should be held in place by serrated clips that can be depressed with your thumbs to release the screen. A fixed screen (AKA spring back) means you can't fit interchangeable backs and holders to the camera.

If you Google images of "graflok back", you'll see what I mean.

If you don't have a Norma back that conforms to the Graflex standard, you can find one. I'm not sure if this is true about all Normas, but mine will accept Sinar F backs. Once you find one that conforms to the above standard, you can use the 4x5 roll-film adapters that are available on EBay.
