rodeo_joe1
Why would you spell Maxum with two Xes in the first place? I remember when it was introduced, the name alone was enough to put me off the camera. Minolta had oviously given their hype department free reign in the styling (aaaaaargh!) and naming of the thing. Even the Dynax pseudonym it went under sounds a bit naff. Such a shame that Konica-Minolta pulled out of the camera business. I still have their Dimage 7i and A2 digital bridge models. The IQ was amazing for their time; mostly due to the great optics fitted I suspect. Not sure why they dropped the Rokkor nomenclature off their lenses though. Maybe it sounded a bit dated - like Maxxum doesn't? My first posting to this forum as far as I can remember - "modern" and "film cameras" are an oxymoronic coupling don't you think? How long will those cameras need to be out of production before the "modern" adjective is dropped? Where do I post about my pre-war film cameras, or are they classed as "modern" too? 1950s, 60s? What's the cutoff date? Cameras with just a bit of plastic styling? Is Bakelite modern? Or is it any camera that takes film still in production, thus ruling out 620, 127, Bantam and Kodak Disk cameras? I'm confused now. bebu_lamar
It's kind of funny because in the Modern Film cameras forum people don't talk about the Leica which is still in production. It seems that the Leica while still in production it's not modern.

Wilmarco Imaging
Great thread. I acquired a 7000 in the mid 1990s with a mid-focal length zoom for $150. I put many rolls of film through it with no problems. I have the CG-1000 accessory grip and the companion AF4000 flash. Very good off camera flash setup. I'll have to look into the battery holder, as the battery cover on mine is deteriorating. I also have the excellent 28-70 f2.8 Minolta lens. It's the best 35mm format lens I own. Member69643
I have three Maxxum 7000 bodies, usually purchased "for the lens" and they get little use despite being fine cameras still. On a side note, the "professional" Maxxum 9000 apparently uses an earlier, inferior AF system. I own one and the AF is putrid, to say the least. Too bad too, b/c the body is in immaculate shape and was professionally CLA'd to be sure it was up to specs. It is... It's just that the specs suck. :)
